I am Stacy Watkins, a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Group Therapist.
I’ve been practicing as a psychotherapist for about 16 years, with the last 12 being in private practice. My early training was in a variety of settings - universities, community centers, crisis agencies. These settings gave me experience working with a range of diversity in clients and issues. Some of these experiences included working with low-income individuals, trauma victims, LGBTQIA+, and those with HIV/AIDS. My transition to private practice was informed by my desire to work more deeply with clients and to focus more on my training as a group therapist.
I became a therapist because of my passion for helping people understand that feelings are important, and all feelings are okay.
I believe we need others to help us grow and change, and I am no exception.
My own continued growth and learning is very important to me. I’ve been a member of an on-going therapy and consultation group for many years. I am a member of both local and national group therapy associations (AGPS, AGPA), and I am part of an advanced training program with the national Center for Group Studies to continue enhancing my expertise in group therapy. I am committed to being the best therapist I can.
